When you’re writing news or commentary for the public, you need an editor who can turn pieces around quickly. You need someone who has a solid command of grammar and knows the kinds of issues addressed in journalistic stylebooks. If you’re doing straight reporting, you need someone who can help make sure your opinion doesn’t show; if you’re making an argument, you need someone who can make sure it’s well-organized and well-supported.
That’s me. Journalism was my first love. I learned to edit in the student press, then trained with the Dow Jones Newspaper Fund. I’ve copy edited for The Miami Herald and proofread editorial pages for The (Toledo) Blade. I’ve written both news and opinion. And as a trained lawyer and philosopher, I’m especially good at testing arguments so that opinion writers can improve them.
